Who We Are
Computer Deductions, Inc. (CDI) was incorporated in California in 1971 and is categorized as a small business. As a small business, CDI commonly provides software development services as a subcontractor to major corporations (e.g. ATT, DEC, IBM, NEC, Tandem, UNISYS). The company, being technically oriented, concentrates on the design and development of large custom systems such as high volume message switches, large database systems, and the automation of large clerical systems. In addition, CDI provides top management consulting services to produce feasibility studies, procurement documents, special studies associated with automation or communications, and assisting customer staff in the development of automated systems. CDI has also developed communication line handlers for Disney, California Department of Justice, California Department of Motor Vehicles, and Tandem. Additionally, CDI is registered as a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for Unisys, DEC, NCR, and Dell, supplying computer equipment and software.
CDI's experience transcends 32 years of supporting various State of California agencies. In particular, CDI played an instrumental role in the development and implementation of the current California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) statewide communications network and the automated field office system. CDI designed and assisted in the development of all the databases at the Department of Justice (DOJ) and totally designed and implemented the California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (CLETS) for DOJ. CDI analyzed the district office automation project proposal of six (6) vendors and the basis for selecting the winner as most qualified for the Legislative Data Center. CDI was a major participant in the design and implementation of the NEC NATMS system, providing for the automation of both the transmission of electronic fingerprint cards, as well as the identification process at DOJ, conforming to EFIPS standards.
CDI maintains a core of EDP professionals each capable of managing or technically directing a large project. With this core of EDP professionals, CDI expands and contracts their professional staff based upon its business needs.
The Mobile Data Hardware division focuses on System Integration, Pilot Concept Program, List of Options Approach (Customer Driven vs. Manufacturer Driven), On-Site In-Vehicle nstallation for Public Safety Fleet, and "One-Stop Shop" Maintenance Program.
CDI has been able to successfully market their skills due to their ability to establish credibility with a potential customer or business partner. CDI is able to demonstrate their up-to-date technical knowledge to the technicians of a potential business partner while also able to communicate technical concepts at a level understood by business managers. This ability to bridge these two worlds accounts for our marketability and repeat business.
Consulting in software development, mobile data computing, and integration are and have been an extremely competitive business. The fact that CDI has been in business for over 32 years, and that we have enjoyed considerable success over this period of time, provides indisputable evidence as to the quality of our products and the timeliness of our services.
